Inadequate Crawl Space Piers
These cement blocks were the original piers for stabilizing this Charleston home. Because of the heavy weight of the home, the blocks began to sink further into the soil allowing room between the piers and the home. Some customers try to fix this problem by shimming--- or adding blocks of wood to the space. However, this is not the correct solution as it does not fix the problem of settling soil.
Wood Rot is Another Factor for Indoor Cracks
Occasionally the soil is not the only problem with inadequate crawl space support system; some times it is also the support beams that are rotting away causing movement in your home's foundation.
Galvanized Supplemental Beam and SmartJack
Not only does the SmartJack system fix the settling soil problem, but it also is galvanized to prevent future rotting or rusting. If there is any movement five years down the line, the SmartJack system can also be adjusted to the correct place very easily.
The SmartJack Solution
Supplemental Beams replaced any rotten wooden beams and 9 SmartJacks were installed to ensure that Floyd's home will be completely stabilized for many years to come.
