Foundation Repair Products Photo Album: Inferior Crawl Space Jacks Replaced by SmartJack System in Charleston, SC
A few years ago, Kathy F. of Charleston, SC had sagging floors so she called around for someone to install crawl space jacks. Unfortunately, the crawl space jacks that were installed did not fix the problem, so Kathy had to research into more foundation work. Stumbling upon CanteyCanFixIt.com, she decided to make an appointment for her free estimate. System Design Specialist Kendall Moore inspected not only her crawl space, but also the interior and exterior of her home. Specialist Kendall explained to Kathy that the crawl space jacks were failing because it did not fix two of her main problems: the moisture and soil issue. Because the past installed encapsulation was not done correctly, the wood beams throughout the crawl space began to rot and develop mold. This weakened the joists, thus not supporting the floors completely. Secondly, the jacks were placed on top of cinder blocks, which are extremely heavy and sink into the soil. This settlement causes major issues including sagging floors, sticking windows and doors, and cracks in sheet rock.
Faulty Encapsulation
This faulty encapsulation did not stop moisture issues from occurring, which resulted in mold growth and rotting wood.
Green Spray
To prevent wood rot and bugs, someone sprayed a green chemical on the wood. However, this solution did not seem to work as the problems kept reappearing.
Galvanized Steel
Our SmartJack System is made out of galvanized steel, which is rust-proof and not vulnerable to mold and rot.
Addresses the Real Problem
By replacing the rotted wood joists with our treated lumber and a galvanized center beam, we fixed any issues of deterioration. By replacing the old crawl space jacks with our adjustable SmartJacks with the Bulb of Influence supporting hole, we fixed the issue of settlement in the soil.
