Homeowner Inspects his Crawl Space in Irmo, SC
Challenge
The challenge was to take this crawl space and turn it into a usable space as well get rid of the moisture problem under the home. Their crawl space had an old vapor barrier already under the home but it was coming up and tearing and there was water sitting underneath the plastic. Water underneath your home will cause mold and mildew and rotten wood.
Solution
After the homeowner's belongings were all removed from the crawl space our crew was able to go in and get to work. The old vapor barrier was removed and the ground was cleaned and leveled out. The vinyl vapor barrier was installed which included wrapping all 32 piers underneath the home. A dehumidifier was also placed under the center of the home to control the moisture level. EZ flow pipe was installed to divert water towards a sump pump that we installed near the air conditioning unit. Now with the completed project, the homeowner will use part of the space to store some of his tools and outdoor furniture. More importantly, the moisture levels have been taken care of preventing further damage to the struture of the home. As you can see the homeowner is very happy with the outcome.
