Sagging Floors Cause Rattling China Cabinet and Sticking Doors in Pendleton, SC Home
Challenge
Stephanie and Kenny D. had already been researching into crawl space encapsulation systems when they stumbled upon CanteyCanFixIt.com, and they realized they had a few more problems in their crawl space other than just moisture and air quality issues. Stephanie absolutely despised the sound of the rattling china cabinet when they walked through their dining room, and they also noticed sticking doors and windows throughout the first floor of their home. Realizing this could be a foundation issue, Stephanie and Kenny called Cantey Foundation Specialists for their free estimate. System Design Specialist Trey Smedley explained that the best solution to their problems was to install a SmartJack System to lift and level the dining room floor and completely encapsulate their crawl space with our patented CleanSpace system.
Solution
Cantey's Production Crew led by Foreman Israel Santana installed seven SmartJacks with 30 feet of supplemental beam, and the complete CleanSpace encapsulation system including a SmartSump pump and dehumidifier. Some of the SmartJacks were strategically placed under the dining room floor, while others replaced failing support columns. This lifted and stabilized the floor back into place, thus getting rid of that annoying rattling china cabinet problem. It also allowed homeowners to open and close the doors with ease. After stabilizing the crawl space, the Production Foreman installed drainage matting, a sump pump, a thick vapor barrier, and a dehumidifier to ensure the best air quality and a beautifully clean crawl space.
