Wood Repair, SmartJack System, and Vapor Barrier Installed in Gadsden, SC Home

Challenge

Evelyn and Ugene B. have been living in their home for over fifty years in Gadsden, South Carolina.  About twenty years ago, Ugene noticed that the floors were moving and sloping so he hired a contractor to renovate the floors throughout the living room and kitchen.  Within a few years, the floors began to creak and doors were becoming harder to open and close.  By 2016, Evelyn and Ugene knew they needed to fix the problem so that they wouldn't have difficulties with the home later on in life.  Realizing that this was a foundation issue, Ugene called Cantey Foundation Specialists for a free estimate to figure out the best solution for his home.  

Solution

System Design Specialist James Davis recommended that the outer rim joist be replaced, SmartJack System be installed, and the crawl space be covered with a vapor barrier.  Evelyn and Ugene knew that Cantey's great products would not only permanently stabilize the foundation, but also prevent future water damage in case of floods.  The Production Crew led by Foreman Israel Santana installed three SmartJacks along with the supplemental beam, which lifted and leveled the kitchen and living room floors.  The crew replaced the outer rim joist that was damaged over time because of moisture issues, and they laid down a vapor barrier, which prevents mold growth and other moisture problems.  Now, Evelyn and Ugene B. can be confident that their home will be stabilized for another fifty years or more!
