Exterior and Interior Stabilization Needed for this Columbia, SC Home
Challenge
Tired of looking at the exterior and interior cracks throughout her home, customer Margaret V. called Cantey Foundation Specialists to help permanently stabilize her home and prevent any future movement. Her free estimate was completed by System Design Specialist James Davis, who saw many problems throughout the inside and outside of Margaret's home. Problems included drainage problems with a faulty sump pump, interior cracks and sagging floors because inadequate stabilizing piers in the crawl space, exterior cracks because of soil settlement, and tripping hazards throughout her cracked driveway. All of these issues stemmed from a soil problem; the whole house was slowly but surely settling into the soil every time it rained.
Solution
Cantey's solution to Margaret's problems included installing push piers on the corners of the home, injecting our patented PolyLevel inside the garage, cleaning out the crawl space, and adding a vapor barrier, new sump pump, and our patented SmartJacks to the crawl space. Taking almost a week to complete, different crews took part in fixing Margaret's issues. Production Crew Foreman and Service Manager Trey Dukes had control over the crawl space, in which he installed 3 SmartJacks, a SmartSump System, and a vapor barrier. Production Crew Foreman Sixto Lopez pushed 8 Push Piers throughout the corners of Margaret's home to lift the home back into place, close any apparent cracks, and to permanently stabilize the home. Lastly, Production Crew Foreman and PolyLEVEL Technician TJ Harden and crew member Ryan McPherson injected the polyurethane to lift and stabilize all of Margaret's concrete slab issues. Now, Margaret has a permanently stabilized home inside and out!
