Commercial Foundations Photo Album: SmartJacks Lift Country Kitchen in Landrum, SC
Ann H. has lived in her Landrum, SC for the last 17 years and could not imagine living anywhere else. She loves her life in the country where it is quiet and there is no one to bother her. She loves cooking in her kitchen with the fresh vegetables she grows in the garden out back. She noticed one day while chopping some carrots that a crack was forming on one of the walls of her kitchen. Soon this crack got bigger and even showed up on the other side of the wall as well. Ann was concerned about the state of her beautiful home in the country and had to take action. She called everyone she could think of that could give her a recommendation. Finally, an answer came from her longtime friend who had recently gotten their foundation repaired. Ann was given the information to call Cantey Foundation Specialists and that she did. On the scheduled day, System Design Specialist Eddie Mathis came out and did a thorough inspection to see what exactly was causing these cracks. Eddie found that Ann needed extra support in her crawl space to hold the weight of her home. The SmartJack system could do just that, starting with removing soil at the locations of the SmartJacks. These locations would be filled with tightly compacted crushed stone with a footing placed on top. Then a galvanized steel beam would be installed on the top of the crawl space. The SmartJack would then be attached to the footing and the steel beam. Each SmartJack can then be adjusted to create lift and stabilize the troubled foundation. Production Team Leader Matt Garcia, Production Team Member Nick Riddick, and Production Team Member David Herbert came out and successfully installed the SmartJack system. Ann can now enjoy her kitchen and the wonderful food she makes in it thanks to Cantey's solution.
