Commercial Foundations Photo Album: SmartJack Helps Give Lift to a Fixer Upper in Columbia, SC
Richard N. is a homeowner in Columbia, SC and has been for quite some time. He loves to fix up different spots in his house to make it as nice as possible. Richard hopes to one day start a family with someone so he wants his home to be in great shape. About a year ago he started to notice the floor in his bedroom sloping. The door seemed to begin to sink as well. Being someone who normally likes to fix it himself he went into his crawl space to see what could be done. Richard quickly found out that he was in way over his head and needed to find a professional company to help him with this issue. He got a local business magazine in the mail recently and saw an advertisement for Cantey Foundation Specialists. He gave them a call and was set up with an appointment with System Design Specialist Jamie Beresford. Specialist Jamie came out and did an inspection on Richard's crawl space. After the inspection, he explained to Richard that the best and lasting solution for this problem was Cantey's SmartJack system. The SmartJack system would be installed underneath the failing beam to give it lift and stabilize the floor above. A section of the soil would be removed and filled with tightly compacted stone. A footing would then be placed on top of this and connected with a galvanized steel column that would be leveled to fit perfectly under the wooden beam. The steel column would then be connected to the wooden beam and the column could be adjusted to create lift. Production Team Leader Trey Dukes, Production Team Member Estevan Lopez, and Production Team Member Brooks Walker came out and successfully installed the SmartJack system to Richard's home. Richard is now happy with the results and recommends Cantey to anyone that needs a trusted professional for foundation repair.
Foundation Begins Here
The removal of soil is the first step to this process to give this homeowner the best solution.
Specially Designed Stone
The stone Cantey uses on the SmartJack system is engineer design to give the most solid foundation.
Packing Up
The stone is brought in sections and then tightly packed into the space.
Foot of Steel
The footing is placed on top of the stone to create a perfect set up for the steel column that rests on top.
Leveling Out Nicely
A level is placed on the column to ensure it is properly leveled for the perfect fit.
The Final Touch
The steel column is attached to the beam to solidify its placement.
