Photo Album: SmartJacks Protect Congregation in Branchville, SC
Francis W. has been a minister at his church in Branchville, SC for almost 10 years now. He has enjoyed getting to know his congregation and helping them in any way he can. Francis took a vow as a minister to always protect and assist his congregation so when he noticed the floor of the church sagging, he knew it needed to be fixed. Francis did a search online to see what local companies he could find to help him. He had one company come out and take a look but their solution did not seem like the best one. Upon taking another look at different companies, he found Cantey Foundation Specialists. System Design Specialist Trey Dukes was scheduled to go out and inspect the church. Francis showed him the problem area and then Trey did a thorough inspection. Afterward, he sat down with Francis to tell him about Cantey's SmartJack system and how it could fix his church. The SmartJack system would begin with soil being removed at the sites where the SmartJacks would be installed. These sections are then filled with tightly compact crushed stone and a footing is installed on top. Each SmartJack is then cut to specifically fit the area in which it will be installed. The SmartJack is attached to the footing and then to the beam above. Once each SmartJack is secure, they are adjusted to create lift and stabilization. Francis felt confident in the solution Cantey provided and trusted that Trey had designed the best possible solution. Production Team Leader Jonathan Lowder, Production Team Member Matthew Kelley, and Production Team Member David Herbert came out and successfully installed the SmartJack system. Francis is thankful to Cantey for keeping his congregation protected in their safe haven.
Lacking Support
The original piers under the church had begun to fall apart, leaving the floors above with no support.
Another Bad Sign
The state of the wooden beams also played a hand in causing the floors to sag. With little to no support to hold them up, it was dangerous for the congregation to be using the church.
Solid Base
Stone is brought into the crawl space to fill the section where the soil was removed to make a solid base for each SmartJack.
Pier Assistance
With the SmartJacks installed, these older piers get the assistance they need to hold steady and strong.
Safe Haven Restored.
All of these SmartJacks are now keeping Minister Francis' congregation protected against faulty floors as they find their safe haven in the church.
