Photo Album: SmartJacks Bring Dinner Back to the Table in Columbia, SC
Richard W. has owned his home in Columbia, SC since the 1970s. He and his wife enjoy the area they live in and have no plans to move. Every evening they always sit down to a meal they cooked together in their dining room. In the last few months, they have noticed that the dining room floor was sinking. As it got worse, Richard worried for their safety during their nighttime tradition. This prompted them to begin eating in the living room, which Richard and his wife disliked. While on the way to the grocery store, Richard heard a commercial on the radio for Cantey Foundation Specialists. When he got home, he called in and scheduled an appointment with System Design Specialist Jason Hugg. When Jason arrived for the appointment, Richard showed him where the crawl space door was located. Jason completed his inspection and sat down with Richard to tell him what he found. The extra support jacks that were in place underneath the home were not providing proper support. Jason knew that Cantey's SmartJack system could provide the support Richard ultimately needed. The SmartJack system would begin with soil removal at the sites where the jacks would be installed. These sites are then filled with tightly compacted crushed stone for a solid foundation for the support jack. A footing is then placed on the stone where the SmartJack is attached. A solid steel beam would be installed to the top of the crawl space along the problem area. Once each SmartJack is attached to the footing and the steel beam they can each be adjusted to create lift and stability. Richard felt like this system would keep he and his wife safe which prompted him to schedule the installation. Production Team Leader Trey Dukes, Production Team Member Estevan Lopez, and Production Team Member Brooks Walker came out and successfully installed the SmartJack system. Richard and his wife can now continue their nighttime tradition of delicious dinner and quality time without worry thanks to the SmartJack system.
