Photo Album: Smart Jacks Stabilize Home in Kershaw, SC
Sara S. in a homeowner in Kershaw, SC whose floors have been uneven for quite some time. She originally had friend from her church check on her problem and he told her that her floors were the issue. So she had him do some work on it to try and fix the issue but to no effect. Sara left the floors like they were for sometime and decided to get someone else to look at it after it had gotten to much to handle again. This time another friend from her church recommended she call Cantey Foundation Specialists. Specialist Richard Early came out to Sara's home and explained to her that it was her wall that was sinking and not her floors. The reaction of the sinking wall was causing ripples in her floor and giving it an illusion that it was the problem. Specialist Richard explained how Cantey's patented Smart Jack process was the solution she needed. Team Leader Scott and Team Member Kenneth were quickly sent to Sara's home and made efficient work of the situation. Afterwards Sara said she was so happy with the work Cantey did for her. She was overjoyed that we were able to fix her problem and now she can walk through her home without worrying about the support now.
Smart Jack Installation
To start installing a Smart Jack the first step is to dig a 2 x 2 x 2 hole.
Supplemental Beams
The supplemental beam is used to support the most joist that a jack can handle at one time.
Safety First
Some crawl spaces can be hard on the lungs so it's important to take a respirator for dusty spaces.
57 Grade Gravel
The next step after the hole is dug is to fill the hole with 57 grade engineer gravel. This gravel is designed to hold and displace weight to prevent settling.
Fill to the Top
They fill these holes to the very top in order to add the most protection from settling for each Smart Jack.
